Description
Intel 545s Series 256 GB SSD
The Intel 545s was a solid-state drive in the 2.5″ form factor, launched on June 28th, 2017, that is no longer in production. It was available in capacities ranging from 256 GB to 512 GB. This page reports specifications for the 256 GB variant. With the rest of the system, the Intel 545s interfaces using a SATA 6 Gbps connection. The SSD controller is the SM2259H from Silicon Motion. Intel has installed 64-layer TLC NAND flash on the 545s, the flash chips are made by Micron. To improve write speeds, a pseudo-SLC cache is used, so bursts of incoming writes are handled more quickly. The cache is sized at 3 GB. The 545s is rated for sequential read speeds of up to 550 MB/s and 500 MB/s write; random IO reaches 75K IOPS for read and 85K for writes.
The SSD’s price at launch is unknown. The warranty length is set to five years, which is an excellent warranty period. Intel guarantees an endurance rating of 144 TBW, a typical value for consumer SSDs.
